A White Lie By Richard Axtell

Writer: Tin Can PoetryTin Can Poetry

Dear God,

please forgive me

today

I lied

to my mother

when she asked

me what

‘bukkake’

meant.

Dear God,

please forgive me

I told

my mum

it was

a Japanese

art form

for painting

lilies.

Dear God,

please forgive me

and please

don’t let

her google it

when looking

for art

to hang

in the guest bedroom.

Dear God,

please forgive me

I promise

I’ll start

to believe

if you just

give me this

one

thing.

Amen.
