Dumpling By Joe Lio

You are the reason I know what real love feels like

Not the breakfast in beds and favourite chocolates, because everybody knows that

It’s the last dumpling left on the plate, after we spent 5 hours making them because we’re not

very good

The cup of water brought to my side after I cried watching that one film, and the tissues that

followed along with it

Or the bowl of potato soup I came home too after telling you I missed my mum’s cooking. I

still don’t know how you got the recipe from her.

But more than that, it’s when we serenade each other in the bathroom because that’s where

the best acoustics are,

When you join in on my silly antics just to make me feel happy,

And most of all, when, even whilst you’re asleep, your hands venture out to reach mine, just

to hold them a little longer.
