I will not eat

a wild animal

free to the wind

serving the circle of life

I will not eat

a farm animal

cruelly contained

slaughtered and swept aside

but

I could eat them

Those fortunate few

who endorse the end of the world

counting coins on private planes

while we all starve down below

I could have them on a plate

their severed heads

ROASTED

their smug smiles

SWIMMING in gravy

their doughy faces

SUCCULENT to chew

Those who broke the circle

and made it a pyramid

I could have their blue blood

dripping down my napkin

Yes

I could stomach that.
