Greed By Faye Brown

Writer: Tin Can PoetryTin Can Poetry

I've unravelled myself out to you

Laid myself upon a prestigious dining table

Wrapped up in exquisite silk, polished to perfection on top of a pristine platter

The lords gawking, mouths watering, begging for a bite

But your attention’s preoccupied with another's wife

I’m ripped apart as the portly pigs gnaw at my limbs until there's nothing left but crumbs of

my remaining dignity, only for them to be licked up by the good lady’s impudent pup

Yet something different still holds your attention, you heed to another instead of me

Not even the piquant of meals could snatch you from your trance

Not a helpless, imperil woman nor a hoard of insatiable, abhorrent men

That must be the heedless ways of a luxurious King.
