On The Train By Euan Fraser

Writer: Tin Can PoetryTin Can Poetry

I glanced down at the page of her book.

I was a lot too drunk to read it exactly,

but there were a lot of numbers.

Not just numbers like 250,000 and 8.71 but also

ones like 1768.

Numbers that were numbers like years have numbers.

Years where you really had to think:

what was it like back then?

What was the fashion for pubic hair?

Like, did they shave them?

Did they let them blossom?

Did they care?

You know, those kinds of numbers.
