Your Bitch By Lauren Lenyi

Writer: Tin Can PoetryTin Can Poetry

From a very young age

I was made to help,

Hold, support, and heal.

I was good at my role.

But what no one understands

Even though I act like this,

Like a selfless young lady

It does not mean I want to be.

It does not mean I chose to be

This role that everyone expects me to embody

I am to blame for every misfortune,

I should have, could have been

Taken charge. it’s what I was raised to do

After all.

But it is never your fault,

When you take advantage of me.

You appeal to my morals,

Weaponize my kindness,

And manipulate me into

Being your mother, your caretaker,

Your errand girl,

Your bitch.

All because you wouldn’t give a shit.

And of course, you can get away with it.
