Waiting In The Stars By Lucy Cross

Writer's picture: Tin Can PoetryTin Can Poetry

Do

not feel

down because

I have departed

as I’m up here getting the party started. I'm blasting our favourite

songs on Neptune and dancing around on a silvery moon. A

disco ball sparkles, creating the stars, whilst I’m popping

champagne with Martians on Mars. Colourful strobe

lights are projecting rainbows, ETs are performing

the can-can in rows; we are all arm in arm

attempting high kicks, freestyling lyrics,

composing a remix. I’m playing Shakira and

shaking my hips, then getting lifts home in alien

spaceships. Still, I’m missing you and my tears are the

rain though I know one day I will see you again, as I’m

waiting for you on the other side and when you cross over our

worlds will collide. So, please rest assured that I’m having my fun

but thinking of

you whilst you

orbit the

sun.
